Let's discuss how it all went wrong.
In 2015, Taylor kicked off the 1989 World Tour where she was joined on stage every night by a different famous person or member of her infamous cult- sorry, we mean 'squad'. It was all a bit "look how many friends I have!!!" with some people commenting on her sickening narcissism. If that wasn't enough the show opened with a video of her BFFs including Selena Gomez and Lena Dunham talking about how amazing it is to be part of said squad and how much they love Taylor. It was all a bit much and her crown started to slip ever so slightly but, for the main part, she was still everyone's favourite girl next door.
Then there was the whole Twitter spat with Nicki Minaj in July last year when Minaj tweeted her displeasure at Anaconda being snubbed for Video of the Year award.
When the "other" girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination. ππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππ— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) 21 July 2015
Minaj then got more specific, tweeting that if your video "celebrates women with very slim bodies" it will, of course, be nominated. Taylor, whose video for Bad Blood was nominated for Video of the Year took this as a personal slur against her despite her name not coming up at all in Nicki's thread tweeting Nicki "I've done nothing but love and support you. It's unlike you to pit women against other women." Note the irony of this statement when Bad Blood is appaz all about Tay's beef with Katy Perry. This is where Pop Kulture had to pull out of the Swift fandom. The whole exchange was embarrassing and highlighted Taylor's ridiculously high opinion of herself, particularly when she tweeted Nicki inviting her to join her on stage should Bad Blood win.
There's also Taylor's cripplingly cringy and bizarre "oh, I'm such a bad dancer but that isn't going to stop me lolz!" act that she pulls out whenever she notices a camera on her at any awards do she attends which, let's face it, is practically all of them. In fact, it's said bad dancing that first grabbed current beau Tom Hiddleston's attention when a video of them having a "dance off" at the Met Gala started circulating online. Three seconds later they were all over each other on some rocks in front of Taylor's house.
Which brings us to the current state of the toppling Swift fandom.
About six weeks ago, Swift broke up with boyfriend of just over a year, Calvin Harris. Everything seemed to be fine in both camps except for Taylor going a bit teenage goth at the Met Gala but do you know what? We're going to let that one slide because, in her defence, she was one of the few women in attendance who dressed for the theme "Fashion In The Age Of Technology" and we're a sucker for a dark lip so kudos to Swifto on that one. But, we digress.
A few weeks later, aforementioned photos of Tom Hiddleston and Taylor frolicking on some rocks emerged and the entire world was a little bit sick in its mouth. It could be said Calvin wasn't overly happy about seeing his ex move on so quickly as he soon unfollowed her on Instagram and both appeared to delete all evidence of each other from their social media feeds. An act we want to call out as petty but we need to hold our hands up and admit we would be the same. In fact, this is one of the main reasons we are so against relationships on social media in the first place.
Hiddleswift continued on their world tour which included meeting each others parents after 2 weeks of dating and Taylor's annual July 4th celebrations where the relationship reached peak levels of sickening and Tom's decision to wear a vest emblazoned with I HEART T.SWIFT complete with Sharpie heart tattoo on his shoulder which more or less cemented the fact he will never play his long sought after James Bond.
Pretty much as soon as they were spotted together there were rumours that their relationship was a PR stunt but now theories have emerged which suggest they're actually making a very elaborate BeyoncΓ© style visual album compiling 'iconic moments' of Swift's relationships. Only Taylor Swift would think her relationships are so important to the world they deserve their own 'best of' feature length music video.
As if this wasn't all stop-the-world-I-need-to-get-off enough, the latest feud with Taylor at the centre is all about Calvin Harris's summer hit This Is What You Came For. There's been speculation for a while that Taylor co-wrote the song and this has since turned out to be true, albeit under the name Nils Sjoberg. In fact, there are now reports that Calvin & Taylor split up over the song after Calvin gave an interview to Ryan Seacrest where he denied the couple had ever discussed working together which appaz angered Taylor who thought this was a step too far. These rumours and reports have led to people spamming Taylor's Instagram comments with the snake emoji in what looks like an epic 180 turnaround for the girl who was once everyone's best friend.
We're just waiting for the next onslaught of carefully curated Hiddleswift photos to emerge...
